Observance of Memorial Day
On this Memorial Day, while enjoying the company of friends and family, let’s not forget the fallen men and women in the Armed Forces who have made the celebration of this day possible. They are not just names without faces. They are our mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends who have sacrificed themselves for our country, so we may be free to live our lives the way we choose.
Throughout the next few days, I invite you to join me — wherever you may be, whatever you may be doing — to contemplate the cost of our freedom, and to remember, honor, and celebrate the great heroes who voluntarily laid down their lives for the peace and security of our country.
Additionally, let us acknowledge the bravery and dedication of those who currently serve or have served in our Armed Forces across the nation, particularly those who now wear at harms way. Thank you for your service.
